Jess Wells, Jr.

Clyde-Jess Earvin Wells, Jr., -73, died Monday, March 24, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

He was a son of the late Bernice Lillian Lylerly and Jess E. Wells, Sr. He was preceded in death by a sister Russie Lee Wells Brown. He retired from Champion International with 37 years of service and attended Rocky Face Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Lee Wells, two sons, Bryan Wells and his wife Tammy of Canton, Forrest Wells of Hendersonville, one sister, Nancy Singleton of Canton, one brother, Duke John A. Wells of Lyman, SC and one grandson, Jessie Wells.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Pastor Donnie Henson and Reverend Jerry Harwell officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Donny Noland, Ross Bennett, Tommy Ferguson, Thad Crawford, Thad Medford and Claude Burrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Champion Old Timers.
