Jessie Gorrell

Jessie Mae Pless Gorrell Cruso – Jessie Mae Pless Gorrell, 99, of the Cruso Community, went to be with her Lord Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Byrd and Nancy Cody Pless. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Gorrell, who died in 1993; four brothers, Frank, Joe, Paul and Glenn Pless; and one sister, Edna Poston. Surviving are three daughters, Betty Jo Long, and her husband, Henson, of Bethel, Birdell Wheeler, and her husband, Howard, and Shirley Leatherwood and her husband, Billy, all of Cruso; one son, J.C. Gorrell and his wife, Jean, of Rogersville, Ala.; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2008, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Jake Cagle officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
