JESSIE ALLISON MEADOWS
Waynesville-Jessie Lee Allison Meadows, age 79, received her promotion on Tuesday, January 28, 2003.
A native of Madison County, she was the last surviving child of the late Andrew and Emma Hicks Allison. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elbert ''Ebb'' Meadows, Sr. who died in 1988; a son, Elbert Meadows, Jr; five sisters, Lela Allison, Mandy Burns, Georgie Green, Lillie Bryant, and Minnie Frisbee; and two grandsons, Chuck Singleton and Weaver Rathbone. She was employed as a nurses aide at Haywood County Hospital and the Salvation Army. She was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church and enjoyed gospel music.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary A. Singleton, of Melbourne, Florida, Beulah M. Rathbone and her husband, Ted, of Clyde, and Wanda A. Wright and her husband, William, of Conover, NC; two sons, Boyd Meadows of Waynesville and James Meadows and his wife, Charlene, of Hickory; two step sons, Dennis Meadows of New Jersey and Fred Meadows and his wife, Nancy, of Waynesville; 15 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Brackett officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carson Gibson, Rick Burris, Larry, Chris, and William Smith, and Darrin and Daniel Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler and Taylor Smith. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times, the family will be at the Lodge in Waynesville.
