Waynesville, Jewel Messer Justice, age 84, of 71 Zemery Lane, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Zemery and Nova Parkins Messer and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Boyd Messer. She worked as a secretary for the Haywood County Schools System and retired as Deputy Registrar for the Haywood County Register of Deeds. Jewel was an active member of the Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church for more than 60 years and was a devoted, faithful Christian who loved her church dearly. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 64 years, Troy Lee Justice; two daughters, Elaine Justice Sneed and her husband, John, of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Janice Justice of Asheville; one sister, Iva Lee Davis and her husband, Ed, of Waynesville; two granddaughters, Deanna Murray Border and her husband, Sid, of Asheville and Jennifer Sneed Elmore and her husband, Wade, of Charlotte; step-granddaughter, Kim Sneed Lambert and her husband, Doug, of Cherokee; two great grandsons, Eli Border and Logan Border of Asheville; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church with Reverend Jay Jones and Reverend Bill Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Jimmy Moore and Reverend Jay Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
