Jewel Swanger

Jewel Dee James Swanger, age 69, died February 13, 2009, at the Brian Center in Waynesville. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Paris E. and Amanda Lindsey James. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dallas Morgan, Jr. She was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. Jewel enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Jerald Swanger; two daughters, Robin Evans and her husband, Jerry, and Patricia Ann Teaster and her husband, Bobby, all of Clyde; a sister, Mary Pressley and her husband, Charles, of Candler; two brothers, David H. James and his wife, Mary Ellen and Paris Ray James and his wife, Vivian, all of Clyde; a special great-granddaughter, Amber Hutchins of the home; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Sandy Morgan of Fletcher. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Winfred Bennett and Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Spring Creek. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
