Jim Denton

Jimmie D. "Jim" Denton, age 77, of Odiear Road, died on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. He was a native of Jackson County and had resided in Haywood County most of his life. He was the son of the late Sam and Etta Gibson Denton. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. He was employee of Carolina Power & Light Company and was a member of North Canton Baptist Church. He was a United States Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Clark Denton of Canton; a son, Jeffrey Denton and his wife, Mary, of Bethel; a daughter, Kathy Denton Smith and her husband, Chris, of Leicester; a brother, Sam Denton of Duarte, CA; two grandchildren; and a special niece, Sandra James of Whittier. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Mark Caldwell officiating. At other times, the family will be at the home. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
