Jim Mehaffey

Maggie Valley, Jim Nathaniel Mehaffey, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Brian Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John Frank and Mattie Rich Mehaffey and was also preceded in death by a brother, Willie Mehaffey. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a retired heavy equipment operator and mechanic at WNC Paving. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed hunting and he was very devoted to his family throughout his entire life and will be well remembered by his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna Cline Mehaffey; one son, Michael Mehaffey and his wife, Vicki, of Maggie Valley; one daughter, Regina Mehaffey and her husband, Keith Calhoun, of Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Lorena McKay of Waynesville and Robena M. Russell of Maggie Valley; four grandchildren, Priscilla, Alivia, Benjamin, and Matalyn Mehaffey; and one great grandson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2009 at Green Hill Cemetery.
