"1936 – 2016" Canton – James Winford "Jimmy" Summey, 79, of Phillipsville Loop, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at his home. A native of Buncombe County, but having lived most of his life in Haywood County, he was a son of the late Linten and Nellie Austin Summey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Phillips Summey, who died in 1999; four sisters, and five brothers. Jim was the owner and operator of Jim's Sanitary Pick-Up. He is survived by a lifelong friend of 60 years, Sally Austin of Canton; one daughter, Cynthia Reavis Setzer and husband, Joseph, of Canton; one son, James Junior Summey of Canton; one brother, Bill Summey of Asheville; and three grandchildren, Heath and Hali Reavis, and Amber Summey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ted Reynolds officiating. A graveside committal will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Phillips Family Cemetery in Burnsville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
