Jimmie Lee Elkins, 66, of Asheville, passed away June 7 at Memorial Mission Hospital surrounded by his family. A native of Yancey County, he had lived most of his life in Asheville. He was a self-employed carpenter and member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his father, John W. Elkins and brothers, Wayne L. Fox and Bruce James Elkins.
He is survived by his mother, Ziller Austin Elkins of Asheville; daughters, Sharon Briggs of Fairview and Pattie Dobbins of Bostic; son, David Elkins, and wife, Norma of Asheville; sisters, Hazel Bradley of Asheville, Mary Rash of Berryville, AR, Betty Elkins of Candler and Magdalene Briggs of Asheville; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The family is grateful to his caregiver and good friend, Joan Bedell.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 11th at the Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn Chapel of Faith, with the Rev. Tony Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Faith at Noon prior to the service.
