Jimmie Dwight Kistler, age 91, passed away October 26, 2020 in Forest City, NC.
He was born to Florence and Melvin Kistler in Royal Center, Indiana on May 18, 1929. Jim was the youngest of four, and was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Kistler, Ann (Don) Rutledge and Mary (Tom) DelVecchio.
Jim was a graduate of Purdue University School of Pharmacy and a pharmacist throughout his career in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Florida. He was an avid Purdue Boilermaker and Chicago Cubs fan, boater, recreational vehicle enthusiast and dog lover. Jim deeply cared about his family and checked in regularly to make sure that everyone was doing well. He often said that he was "the luckiest man on the face of the earth".
Jim is predeceased by his wife Pauline Kistler, her daughter Diane (Cecil) Young and his son Thomas H. Kistler (Laura Landes).
He is survived by his children Susan Kistler, Karen (Bob) Dunlap, Michael Kistler, and Linda James; and his stepchildren, Charles “Rick” (Sherry) Eskins and Bob (Doris) Eskins. Jim’s grandchildren include Ben Kistler, Phil (Candace) Kistler, Stefanie (Nick) Benner, Bobby (Kate) Dunlap, Hannah Kistler, Nicole James, and six great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his close and special friend Joyce Weeks.
No services are planned at this time. A celebration of life to honor Jim may be held in the spring at a date and location to be determined.
