Jo Smith

February 11, 1929 — January 6, 2018

Canton - Jo Ann Henson Smith, 88, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Dixie Rogers Henson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Smith and a grandson, Scotty Smith, both who died in 1990. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Jo Ann loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed making memories with them.

She is survived by one daughter, Frankie Jean Plemmons and her husband, Jennings, of Waynesville; two sons, Terry Smith and Ray Smith and significant other, Jewel Stiles, all of Canton; and four grandchildren; Danielle (Tim) Owens, David (Dr. Kelly) Kelley, Amy Messer (Keith), and Angela (Shane) Reece; and two great-grandchildren,
Gavin and Garret Owens.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Silver Bluff Nursing Home nurses and CNA's for their excellent care.
