Waynesville, Joan Thompson Bradshaw, age 82, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Maggie Valley Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Haywood County and previous resident of Newport News, Virginia and Pasadena, Texas; she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Daisy Rogers Thompson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James William Bradshaw, who died in 2011; three brothers, Boyd, Buck and Robert Thompson and one sister, Frances Wingo. Joan was a former loan officer at First State Bank of Pasadena, Texas. Upon returning to Haywood County she was employed by the Haywood County Board of Elections. Joan was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was very active in the Woman's Missionary Union. She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Brady, and her husband, Don, of Waynesville; one stepson, James H. Bradshaw, and his wife, Maxine, of Waynesville; one sister, Betty Jones, and her husband, James, of Brevard; and two brothers, Frank Thompson and his wife Virginia of Hendersonville and Bill Thompson, of Dothan, Alabama; two grandsons, Randall Bradshaw and his wife, Christi and Rodney Bradshaw; one great grandson, Keaton Bradshaw; two step great grandchildren, Blaine and Brant Medland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Rowland and Reverend Bobby Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service at the funeral home.
