Joan Hill

Clyde, Joan Rose Hill, 74, of Liner Creek Road, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Silver Bluff Village. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late John Howell Rose, Jr. and Maude Hannah Rose and was also preceded in death by her step-father, Paul Howell. Joan was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and was the assistant pianist and organist for several years. She was a homemaker that loved cake decorating and playing the piano. Joan is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carroll Eugene Hill; daughters, Jennifer Frizzell (J.D.) of Sylva and Eugenia Moore of Clyde; a son, Ricky Hill (Sherry) of Clyde; a sister, Stella Nell Messer, of Cleveland, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Specialist Ernie Hill, US ARMY, Mary Sheehan (Isaac) and Samuel Moore, student at VMI; one great-granddaughter on the way; two sister-in-laws, Freda Hill and Novella Rogers (David) of Clyde; two nieces, Judy Slagle (Dave) of Chattanooga, Trudy Lilly (Al) of Fletcher; one nephew, Davisro Messer (Lorraine) of Cleveland, Tennessee; four great nieces; two great nephews; and two great-great nieces. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson, Reverend Jeff Moore and Reverend Charlie Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Davisro Messer, Hal Messer, Kenny Greene, Adrian Presnell, Danny McElroy and Justin Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Rose, Arthur Evans, Jimmy Rhodes, Jeff Best, Jimmy Smith, Edgar McElroy, Jack Haynes, Walker Hill, Ben Best, Charlie Evans and Bob Rajca. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery Fund, 537 Bald Creek Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
