Joan Silvers

Canton – Gladys Joan McGaha Silvers, 93, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Pigeon Valley Rest Home.

Joan was born on February 27, 1927 and was a native of Haywood County.  She was the daughter of the late Lattie McGaha and Marie Holland McGaha.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerome Clifford Brown and her second husband, Woodrow “Woody” Silvers. Joan graduated from Canton High School in 1944.  She worked for many years for the National Weather Service in Asheville and was a life-long member of Plains United Methodist Church.

Joan is survived by her stepson Charles “Charlie” Brown and his wife, Jeanette, of Candler and several cousins in the Canton area.

At Joan’s request, no services are planned at this time.
