Joan Wilson, born April 17, 1926 in Arcadia, NE to the late James and Agnes Rasplicka, passed to her rest on March 8 surrounded by her loving family. As a youngster, Joan walked or rode a horse many miles to school and helped with chores on the farm. She attended Union College, Lincoln, received her RN certification at Boulder Sanitarium in 1950, and her B.S. in Nursing from Walla Walla College, WA.
She met her husband of 61 years, Morris Wilson, at Walla Walla and they were married July 8, 1951. Her RN career spanned almost five decades, during which time Joan provided LPN/RN training, as well as ICU and Critical Care. As nursing supervisor, she was held in high regard by both patients and co-workers.
Joan became a Seventh-day Adventist with her mother and church remained an important part of her life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music, kept a clean, cheerful and organized home with plants and good food. Although retired, she would assist her neighbors and had a large circle of friends.
A loving wife to Morris, caring mother to Gary and Jeanne, daughter, grandmother, sister, teacher, competent nurse, neighbor, and church member, she is sorely missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, June 9th at the Mt. Pisgah Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Candler.
