Joann Turner

October 2, 1942 — April 30, 2016

Waynesville, JoAnn Jones Turner, age 73, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Richard Osteen Jones, Sr. and Martha Caldwell Jones. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Turner, a grandson, Joshua Turner and her brother, Richard Jones, Jr. JoAnn resided in Maryville, Tennessee for the last 13 years and was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She received her business degree from Haywood Community College and retired from First Union National Bank after 30+ years of service. She had also worked at Apple Valley Store in Maryville, Tennessee for the past 10 years. JoAnn enjoyed her flowers, gardening, playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with her friends. JoAnn is survived by one son, Randy Turner, and his wife, Pamela; one sister Gladys Messer; two grandchildren, Morgan and MacKenzie Turner; one great-grandchild, Micah Mills, all of Waynesville and a special friend, Kenneth Teffteller. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend David Childers officiating. Burial will follow at Allison Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to a charity of one's choice.
