Elizabeth JoAnne Haney Henson, age 65, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Willard Ned and Cora Pauline Baker Haney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy JoAnne Henson; a brother, Willard C. Haney; step-mother, Patricia Maxine Knight; and a step-sister, Veda Jo Anders. She owned and operated JoAnne's Restaurant in the 1970's and also managed Carroll's Fine Food, waitressed at Pilot Truck Stop, and Mackey Cafeteria at Dayco. JoAnne loved a beautiful yard, decorating her house, collecting quilts and cookbooks and cooking. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Albert Henson; one son, Butch Henson and his wife, Teresa, of Waynesville; two daughters, Cynthia Goodson and her husband, Randy, and Annette Hannah and her husband, Randy, all of Waynesville; two sisters, Sue Nuttall of Candler and Doris Harris and her husband, Mike, of Mountain View, Missouri; a half-sister, Norma Ruth Furlong of Pennsylvania; a half-brother, Charles Haney of Candler; five grandchildren, Misty Broglin, Tommy Cooper, Travis and Dustin Maynor, and Blake Henson; and three great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Makayla Haney, and Jacob Cooper. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dale Wheeler and Reverend Jay T. Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:30 p.m. prior to the service.
