Leicester, Joe Aldridge, age 75, formerly of Waynesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2011 at MedWest Haywood. A native of Avery County, he had resided in Haywood County for most of his life. He was the son of the late Lloyd and Lizzie Howell Aldridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wylma Lusk Aldridge, who died in 2010; one son, Jimmy Aldridge; seven brothers, and one sister. He worked in the Shipping Department at Dayco and retired after 33 years service. Joe was a graduate of Waynesville Township High School where he will be remembered for his athletic ability. Throughout his life, he supported Mountaineer athletics. Joe lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for his dedicated work ethic and his love of life. He is survived by a daughter, Julie Aldridge Davis of Waynesville; stepdaughter, Paula Fann, of Weaverville; two sons, Jonny Aldridge of Canton and Joey Aldridge of Atlanta; one stepson, Terry Stines, of Alabama; one sister, Laura Ledford; one brother, Earl Aldridge of Spruce Pine; nine grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Kira Tweedie and her husband, Matthew, Mary Beth Davis, Jessie and Jadie Aldridge, Kandace Castro and her husband, Isai, Steven and Danielle Fann, and Shelby Stines; three great grandchildren, Ricky Tweedie and Kayla and Lexie Casto; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Well Funeral Home with Reverend George Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at funeral home.
