Waynesville, Davie Joe and Mattie Dare Franklin McClure passed away together on July 6, 2015. Joe was a native of Haywood County and attended Clyde High School. He was the son of the late Austin and Mary Jo Brown McClure and was also preceded in death by a sister, Gencie Glazener and a brother, William "Bud" McClure. Mattie Dare McClure was also a native of Haywood County and graduated from Crabtree High School. She was the daughter of the late Hardy Rudolph and Mary Louise Henson Franklin and she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Cash Franklin. This loving couple enjoyed touring in antique cars and cross country trips. Dare was an avid doll enthusiast, and Joe enjoyed restoring clocks of all description. Their memory will be cherished by all those that were blessed to be touched by their infinite kindness, gentle humor and unfailing love. Joe and Dare are survived by a daughter, Joretta Ann Smith and husband, James Smith; granddaughter, Laci Jo Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Kellsi Jo, Aubrey and Grainger Rogers. Dare is also survived by a sister, Hazel Robertson of Canton; and many nieces and nephews. Joint funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Campbell and Reverend Diean Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In tribute to their memory please drive your antique car to the visitation and funeral service.
