Waynesville-Joel Randolph Noland, 24, of the Iron Duff Community, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2006. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of Terry and Lisa Noland of Waynesville. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Sue and H.R. Noland and maternal grandfather, Jimmy Clark. Joel was a 2000 graduate of Tuscola High School and was employed by Curtis Loving Construction. He was a member of Crabtree United Methodist Church. Joel lived life to the fullest and was loved by many. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Freda Clark, and her friend "Squirrel" Birchfield; three aunts, Angie, Hilda, and Jennifer, and their families; a special aunt and uncle Jack and Lucy James, of Clyde; and a special friend, Rhiannon Medford. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Kathy McAbee, Reverend W.T. Medlin, and Reverend Jack Jaynes officiating. Burial will follow at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at the funeral home and at other times, at the home of his parents. Serving as pallbearers will be Trey Rogers, Ryan Thompson, Tommy Jaynes, Jeremy Franklin, Tristan Medford, Nick Crawford, Shannon Noland, Charlie "Bit" Putnam. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Robeson, Rick Thompson, Donny Noland, and Charles Wood.
