Joetta Rinehart

Asheville, Joetta F. Rinehart, age 77, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Givens Estates. A native of Davidson County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ernest R. and Pearl Martin Doby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene, Robert, Donald, and Nelson Doby. She was co-owner of Popes Restaurant in Salisbury and Corporate Secretary for Carolina Rubber Hose Company for 25 years. She was also employed for 25 years at Lake Junaluska Assembly (5 years in Food Service and 20 years in Public Relations). Joetta's accomplishments were many: President of Clear Springs United Methodist Women at age 16, 1975 State President of Professional Women, 1975 President of United Methodist Women's Western Conference, served on Board of Trustees of Givens Estates and Pfeiffer University, board member of the Salvation Army, honorary member of Haywood Community College Foundation, served on Haywood Medical Center Foundation Board, Executive Board of World Methodist Council, elected ten times for the General Conference of United Methodist Church, served on Haywood County Chamber Conference, member of Waynesville Rotary Club, 2009 Chief Junaluska, secretary of Waynesville Waterways, and secretary of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church, served on Haywood County Tourist and Development Association Board, and Joetta was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bill Rinehart; two sons, Ronnie Rinehart and his wife, Linda, of Salisbury, North Carolina and Terry Rinehart and his wife, Judy, of Charleston, South Carolina; two daughters, Teresa Julian and her husband, Ron, of Huntersville, North Carolina and Paula D. Hedrick and her husband, Philip, of Denton, North Carolina; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Sanford L. Giles, Jr. , Reverend Dr. Robert M. Blackburn, and Bishop Lawrence McCleskey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
