John Anders

March 25, 1926 — November 25, 2004

Candler-John Weaver Anders, age 78, died Thursday, November 25, 2004 at his residence. He was a native of Buncombe County and had lived most of his life there. He was the son of the late Lum and Lona Kuykendall Anders and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ben Perry Anders and two Sisters Louise Roland, and Hazel Lunsford. Mr. Anders retired from General Motors as a lubrication technician/welder with 30 years of service and served as an ambassador for The United Auto Workers. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Evelyn Cisco Anders of Candler, one daughter Caroline Anders Robinson and her husband Kevin of Asheville, two sons and their wives, Johnny B. and Cheryl Anders and Richard Culbert and Shelley Anders, all of Candler, six sisters Stella West of Candler, Myrtle Nichols, Jennie Pruett and Ruth Wilson, all of Waynesville, Mardell Miller and Edith Brooks both of Florida. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2004 at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville. Pastor Michael Gill will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the home. Memorials may be made to Church of Christ at Candler, 1365 Pisgah Highway, Candler, NC 28715.
