Waynesville-John Curtis Binford of Waynesville, North Carolina died on December 12, 2006 at age 70. He was born in Dallas, Texas to Joe Bailey Binford and Nell Roberts Binford. John and his first wife, Julie Jean Gamble, have two children: John and Anne. John married Carol Feichter of Waynesville, NC in October of 1999. Carol has two children, Elizabeth and Mark, with her husband Mark Feichter, who is deceased. John lived much of his life in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he worked as a commercial real estate developer and stockbroker. John has written short stories and poetry Society. John loved the outdoors and all the mountains from the red peaks of New Mexico to the green Appalachian Mountains. He fished regularly with family and friends and he wrote and talked about the people who most influenced him. John was an involved and caring member of any community where he made his home. He worked in NC as a insurance agent and real estate broker. John was a member of the Waynesville Historic Preservation Commission and an active participant in a weekly bible study group. John is survived, by his wife, Carol Feichter and her children Elizabeth and Mark Feichter, his brother Joe "Jody" Binford, his daughter Anne Streater, his son John Binford, Jr., daughter-in-law Pilar Flores, and his three grandchildren Sarah, Paul, and Stephen. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Canton with Reverend Timothy P. McRee officiating.
