Waynesville, John Joseph Brennan, age 65, died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville. Jack was a native of Philadelphia, PA and was the son of the late Thomas A. and Eleanor Nowak Brennan. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Patrick Brennan. Jack retired from the U.S. Coast Guard with 24 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer. He thoroughly enjoyed golfing, boating, hiking, gardening and woodworking. While living in Delaware, he volunteered with Hospice and Big Brothers. Jack is survived by his wife of 18 years, Barbara B. Brennan. He is also survived by four sons, John Brennan and his wife, Diane, Brian Brennan, Richard Brennan and his wife, Julie as well as Timothy Brennan and his wife, Camille. In addition, he is survived by four siblings, Eileen Hill, Eleanor Williams and her husband, Willie, Joeseph Brennan and his wife, Pat and Robert Brennan and his wife, Winnie. There are also seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. The funeral home is located at 296 N. Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 358, Waynesville, NC 28786.
