John Chapman

"1949 – 2015" Canton – John Howard Chapman, age 66, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was a son of the late Robert Chapman and Juanita Gilland Chapman Stamey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Neil Chapman. John retired from Champion International and was a United States Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was vice commander of the Disabled American Veterans chapter 89. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Grace Surrett Chapman; four daughters, Beverly James of Canton, Ginger Queen of River View, Florida, Celna Jones of Meadow Fork, and Jeanie Bolden of Canton; one brother, Thomas Chapman of Waynesville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Reverend Gene Worley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
