John Craig

April 19, 1929 — February 10, 2006

Candler- John William "Bill" Craig- age 76 died Friday, February 10, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was a native and resident of Buncombe County but grew up in Haywood County. He was a son of the late William McKinley and Pearl E. Best Craig and was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Annette Hardin Craig who died in 1998. He was employed by American Enka Corporation for 43 years, was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church and a Navy veteran having served in the Korean War. He is survived by three sons; Tony Craig and his wife Lesia, Jeff Craig and Stephen Craig and his wife Faye all of Candler; two brothers, Charles Craig and his wife Katherine of Canton and Tommy Craig and his wife Peggy of Candler; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Roy Houston officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to New Morgan Hill Baptist Church, 370 Lake Drive, Candler, NC 28715 or to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
