Waynesville, John D. Kinsland, age 101, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Autumn Care of Waynesville. A native of Haywood County, he was son of the late John R. and Eleanor McElroy Kinsland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Norris Kinsland, who died in 1988; a sister, Manilla Kinsland and two brothers, William and Jesse Kinsland. John was owner and operator of the Haywood Café in Canton for many years and managed the family properties. John enjoyed his apple orchard, his farm and being with people. He was a member of Crabtree Baptist Church. John is survived by one daughter, Eleanor Kinsland Coffey and her husband, Lyle, of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Kristin Coffey West and John L. Coffey and three great- grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron West and Kinslyn Coffey. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2010 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Matt Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in the Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers, will be Way Kinsland, Bill Davis, Charles Free, Jr. Evans, Henry Rathbone and Loye Trantham. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crabtree Baptist Church 489 Crabtree Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
