John William Dapprich, “designer extraordinaire“ passed away unexpectedly at his summer cabin in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. He also resided in Fort Lauderdale Florida for the winter months.
John was born March 6, 1937, in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Elton L and Ellen Mae (Ketchum) Dapprich. He is also preceded in death by his older brother Lee. He is survived by his life partner Glenn Kovacs as well as many many friends.
John obtained his diploma from Kendall school of design in 1962. He served as an interior designer at Burdine’s department store as well as Jordan Marsh department store, he then formed Dapprich Interiors, of Coconut Grove. to name a few people he designed for: Joe Garagiola of Marco Island, Jack Paar, Henry Kissinger, Admiral Rickenbacker, and Senator George and Carolyn Smathers, all of Key Biscayne. Hotels he designed include Key Biscayne Hotel, Marco Beach Hotel, and JFK International Hotel. He was Director of Interior Design for Deltona Corp, Miami. He was a proud member of ASID for more than 30 years.
He had a very distinguished career and was listed in the ninth edition of the “Who’s Who in the world” book. He remained active for some time in the design world. He remained active in the design world and additionally made TV commercials for Bob Griese of the Miami Dolphins
Funeral service will be coordinated by Boyd Panciera Funeral Home, Pembroke Pines Florida. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Services on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. with a Christian Service at 11:00 a.m. A police escorted funeral procession will follow to Woodlawn Park North Cemetery and Mausoleum, 3260 SW 8th Street., Miami, Fl 33135 with Army military honors and interment at 1:00 p.m.
There will be a celebration of life for John following the interment at 5:30 p.m. at Seawatch Restaurant, 6002 N. Ocean Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308.
The care of Mr. Dapprich has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville
