John Early

Waynesville, John "Jack" D. Early, age 84, of Cambridge Way, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at Autumn Care. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late John Lee and Mamie Estes Early. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl Teems, Jane Taylor, and Mildred McDowell and two brothers, Ed and Steve Early. Jack was a carpenter with McCarroll Construction and loved helping folks in his community. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alene; a daughter, Pamela "Cathy" White and her husband, Philip, of Marion; ;a son, Ronny Kent Early and his wife, Jackie, of Conover; two sisters, Wilma Mae Gregory of Tryon and Lucille Cabe of Spruce Pine; one brother, Jerry Neil Early, of Myrtle Beach; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Grandview Baptist Church with Reverend Terry Stockman, Reverend Davis Hooper, and Reverend Mark Golden officiating. Burial will follow at Buchanan Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Marvin Downs, Albert Allen, Dale Wyatt, Max Smith, Jerry Pace and Clint Mull. Honrary pallbearers will be Greg and Bryant Early, P.J. Gallagher and Gary Creech. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grandview Baptist Church, 1562 Allens Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.
