John Fields

Waynesville, John Fields, age 71, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Kankakee, IL, he was the son of the late George Claiborne and Virginia Tatum Fields. He was a longtime resident of Wilmette, IL and spent the later years of his life living between Atlanta, GA and Waynesville, NC. John served in the U.S. Army. He was a talented wood worker and enjoyed building furniture and working on many projects. He was a humble, gentle and kind man who had a positive outlook on life. He was loved and enjoyed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Fields; two daughters, Karen Miller and her husband, Stephen, of Asheville and Meghan Fields of Columbia, SC; a son, JT Fields and his partner, Glenn Murer, of Atlanta, GA; three brothers, Hank Fields of Phoenix, AZ, George Fields of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and Stephen Fields of Cullowhee, NC. No services are planned. John would want to be remembered as he was in life. Memorials may be made to the Haywood County Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
