John Griffin

Waynesville-John Richard ''Dick'' Griffin, of Ft. Pierce Florida died September 8, 2003.

A native of Roanoke, Virginia, he was the son of the late Samuel and Edna Young Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ada Ann Ferguson Griffin in 1998 formerly of Waynesville; two sisters, Dorothy G. Hays and Judith G. Aasheim; and one brother, Donald Griffin. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and was owner and operator of a waste paper company in Columbia, Maryland.

He is survived by three sisters, Lois E. Brightwell, Joan G. Campbell, and Imogene G. Stout and two brothers, Harley E. Griffin and James R. Griffin and his wife, Gray, all of Roanoke, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend W. T. Medlin officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
