John Hoglen

John Carroll Hoglen, age 70, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Raymond John and Loraine Pearl Davis Hoglen. He retired from Square D Corporation with 42 years of service and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. John loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and his church family especially the Senior Citizens group and camping when able. He is survived by three daughters, Mary Alice Waites, Karen Hoglen, Pamela Baker and her husband, J. D. all of Leicester; two sons, Jeff Hoglen and his wife, Tonya, of Swannanoa and Anthony Hoglen of Leicester; two sisters, Carolyn Teague and her husband, Bill and Annette Roberts and her husband, Kenneth; a brother, Rex Hoglen and his wife, Linda; six grandchildren, Courtney Hoglen, Linsey Waites, Savannah Baker, Dustin Hoglen, Kayla and Zachary Allen; two great-grandchildren, Kiarria Plummer and Breannah Bell; a nephew, Randy Teague; and a niece, Vicki Lloyd. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizens Program at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 1008 Newfound Road, Leicester, NC 28748.
