Orlando, FL-John D. Landt, Sr., age 90, died August 4, 2006, with his family at his side. He was a native of Chicago, IL and was the son of the late Fred and Grace Holmes Landt and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Landt, the mother of his sons, who died in 1987. John was also widowed by Virginia Landt and then Wilma Landt whom he cared for during their illnesses; one brother, Fred E. Landt, Jr.; and one sister, Judith Holt. He was the owner and operator of The Toy Shop and The Swim Shop in Silver Springs, FL for 30 years; he retired in 1975 and operated a cattle ranch until the 1980's. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ocala, FL and was active in the choir and was a soloist and a church trustee. He loved sailing, cooking and traveling and served in the United States Army during WWII. He is survived by three sons, John D. Landt, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Orlando, FL; David H. Landt and his wife, Gwen of Waynesville, NC and Michael R. Landt and his wife, Barbara of Deltona, FL; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
