John Mccarty

July 9, 1942 — April 10, 2007

Waynesville-John Earl McCarty, age 64, formerly of Clyde, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Columbus, Georgia, he was the son of the late Thomas Ewell and Annie Ruth Grace McCarty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Ivo McCarty and a sister, Betty Norris. He was a self-employed auto body repairman. John enjoyed Nascar racing and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He is survived by a sister, Emma Jean Radford, of Waynesville; a niece, Shelia Sumpter and her husband, Roy of Waynesville; a nephew, Frank Radford and his wife, Bobbie, of Candler; and several other nieces and nephews from Georgia and Alabama. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2007 in the Faith Classroom of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service in the Faith Classroom. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for your prayers or donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
