A True Outdoorsman
Clyde - John Stanley McElrath, 54, passed away on February 21, 2018 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of Nellie Carr McElrath of Candler and the late Dale McElrath; a sister, Sheila Plemmons; father-in-law, Hall Warren; a brother-in-law, Furman Warren and a sister-in-law, Julia Warren.
He was employed with Waynesville Gas Company and the owner and operator of Mt. Pisgah Hauling and Grading. John Stanley was a man of faith and true outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, horseback riding as well as all of his "toys". He attended Glory Tabernacle in Asheville.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Luuana Warren McElrath; four daughters, Savannah McElrath of Clyde, Rosalinda Tassin of Clyde; Amber Martindale and her husband, Forrest, of Waynesville and Autumn Reece and her husband, Johnny, of Waynesville; a son, Steven McElrath of McCormick, South Carolina; a brother, Parker McElrath of Linville, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Eula Warren; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at North Canton Baptist Church with Pastor Zach Williams, Pastor Mark Caldwell and Pastor Ronnie Pittman officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venter Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
