Waynesville-John Patrick Quigley, age 86, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed onto our Lord on Friday, October 19, 2007 at his home. A native of Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James Francis and Eleanor Reed Quigley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Thomas, William, Francis, James, and Robert Quigley. He was a US Army veteran, having served during World War II and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars. John earned his degree from Glassboro State Teachers College in Glassboro, NJ. He was a retired principal after 26 years from the New Jersey school system. He enjoyed crafting stain glass and was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane Ebenbach Quigley; two daughters, Joanne Rose Evans and her husband, Brian, of Winchester, VA, and Susan Jane Beasley and her husband, Robert, of Waynesville; two granddaughters, Cara Careen Craig of Asheville and Dana Caryl Cotten of Willow Springs, NC; and three great grandchildren, Elijah Patrick Craig of Asheville, Karl James Hough of Willow Springs, and Emily Jane Craig of Asheville. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2007 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Father Tim McRee and Reverend Dr. Russell Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 262 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or St. Andrews Episcopal Church Building Fund, 99 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716.
