John Russell

Balsam, John Daniel Russell, Sr., age 83, died on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Skyland Care Center in Sylva. A native of Dover, NJ, he was the son of the late John W. and Frieda Newman Russell and was also preceded in death by a son, James V. Russell; a daughter, Catherine I. Russell; and two brothers, Donald and Billy V. Russell. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and worked for the State of New Jersey's Maintenance and Groundkeeping Department for 12 years. John enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mabel Russell; a son, John D. Russell, Jr. of Manalapan, NJ; a daughter, Frieda Macri and her husband, Anthony J. of Mendham, NJ; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
