John Snyder

Canton, John Howell Snyder, age 74, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at his residence surrounded by all of his family.

A native of Haywood County he was the son of the late Jack Howell Snyder and Louise James Snyder Green. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, John Howell Snyder, Jr. John retired from American Enka in 2003 with 37 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on the Aircraft WASP CV518 as a MM3. John enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, feeding birds, reading and loved to watch WWE with Drake.

John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann Smith Snyder; daughters, Sherry Little, and her husband, Joseph, of Laurens, South Carolina and Tina Franklin, and her husband, David, of Clyde; sister, Doris Buchanan, of Waynesville; three brothers, Ray Snyder, Robert Snyder, and his wife Betty, all of Waynesville, Charles Snyder, and his wife, Sandy, of Maggie Valley; one granddaughter, Morgan Little; four grandsons, Andrew and Drake Franklin, Bowdrie and Chantry Little; his dog, Daisy; and special brother and sister in law, Rex and Ruby Wilson, of Candler.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Rusty Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at 118 Morgan Street, Canton, North Carolina 28716.
