John Wilson

February 13, 1961 — September 27, 2003

Waynesville-John Thomas Wilson, age 42, of 761 S. Main Street, died Saturday, September 27, 2003 at his residence.

He was a native of Winchester, Kentucky and had lived in Boone, North Carolina for 17 years before coming to Haywood County two years ago. He was the son of Raymond and Evelyn Smith Wilson of Winchester, Kentucky.

He earned his B.S. Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Music Merchandising and was the owner and operator of the Stone Cottage Band Instrument Shoppe in Waynesville. He was previously employed by Duncan Music in Boone, NC. He attended Grace Covenant Church. He was a member of the Waynesville Historical Society and the Haywood Community Band. He enjoyed poetry and music.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 12 years, Rhonda Sanders Wilson; his son, Stephan Wilson of the home; his mother-in-law, Mary Spencer of Tucson, Arizona and his father-in-law, Joe Sanders of Tucson, Arizona; his sister, Leslie Ann Kaylor and her husband, Don of Berea, Kentucky; his brother, Paul David Wilson of Trinidad, Colorado; and his niece, Leigh Moberly of Berea, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. The Reverend Munsey Millaway will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2003 at the funeral home. Following the funeral services, the family will receive friends at Stone Cottage.

Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
