Waynesville-Johnathan Stokes Johnson, age 30, of White Oak Road, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2006. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of James Lindsay Johnson and Vivian Wilson Johnson of Supply, NC. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J. Donald and Edith Phibbs Johnson of Marion, SC and his maternal grandfather, W.W. Wilson. Stokes loved his daughters dearly and was an active member of Dellwood Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and was also a member of the singing group T2 . He played an active roll in Vacation Bible School and was also a member of the Sonshine Club that cooked breakfast for the children of the church every Sunday morning. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting and surfing at the beach. In addition to his parents, Stokes is survived by two daughters, Savannah Lindsey Johnson (8) and Mackenzie Taylor Johnson (7); one brother, Tim Johnson and his wife, Dawn, and their daughter, Julianna Johnson, all of Waynesville; his maternal grandmother, W.W. Wilson, of Friendship, SC; and aunts and uncles, Dr. and Mrs. William Ferrell Shuford, Jr. of Wilmington, James Donald Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Orange Park, FL, William Thomas Johnson of Seattle, WA, Ellen and Pete Stokes of Columbia SC, Margie and Jerome Wise of Marion, SC, and Libby and Jerrell Smith of Friendship, SC. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Justice and Reverend Jason Ledford officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Baptist Church in Marion, SC with Reverend Scott Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior the service.
