Waynesville, Johnnie Virgilene McCracken Breece, 92, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Maggie Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Emerson and Grace Holder McCracken. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Cutshaw, Doris Holt,Alice Frady and Mary McCracken; and a brother, David Joe McCracken. Johnnie attended Fincher’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She retired from Dayco Corporation with 27 years of service. Johnnie was a dedicated caregiver and servant to her family.
Johnnie is survived by her son, Larry E. Breece (Sharon), of Clyde; brother, Jim McCracken (Judy), of Clyde; three sisters-in-law, Freda Hooper, of Waynesville, Evalou Breece, of Canton and Sybil Breece, of Clyde; brother-in-law, Don Frady, of Waynesville; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend James Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dean Cutshaw, Richie Holt, Michael Holt, and Jeff Frady.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fincher’s Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 158 Children Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
The care of Ms. Breece has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
