"Loving Father"

Iron Duff Community, Johnnie Nile Crawford, age 81, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Haywood County he was the son of the late Ned and Emma Dotson Crawford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Clara Pless Crawford who died in 2012; infant son, Carey Lyle Crawford who died in 1960, son, David Lynn Crawford who died in 2002; sister, Elizabeth James; and brother, Ned Crawford. Johnnie was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and retired from Dayco Corporation after 28 years. He enjoyed working on his farm and was a NC State and Nascar Fan, but most of all he enjoyed his family and friends and was always eager to help them in any way.

Johnnie is survived by a son, Gary Nile Crawford, of Kernersville; sister-in-law, Aulby Ferguson, of Waynesville; best friend and companion, Ann Medford; several nieces, nephews; and his many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Valentine officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
