Johnnie Davis

Waynesville-Johnnie Ruth Davis, age 75, of 250 Underwood Cove, died on Thursday, September 21, 2006. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Olis and Mary Ruth Davis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Davis, who died on May 24, 2000 and a brother, Edward Hugh Parrott. She was a cook at Smith's Drug Store until it's closing and also for the Haywood County Sheriff's Department until her retirement. She loved and was a very devoted member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Joe Bob Davis of Waynesville and Jim Davis and his wife, Susan, of Advance, NC; two sisters, Jo Ann Joseph and husband "Buck," of Brandywine, W.VA and Jimmie Sue Smathers and his husband, Doug, of Waynesville; three brothers, Grant Alton Parrott and his wife, Clara, Jack Howard Parrott, and William Roger "Bill" Parrott and his wife, Nina, all of Waynesville; three grandchildren, Andrew James Davis, Andrew Dale Davis, and Keri Lynn Davis; one great grandson, Austin Jarrett Davis; and a special niece, Tina McCall and her husband, Bill, of Clyde. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Mark Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Haywood County Deputy Sheriffs.
