Johnnie Hightower

Canton - Johnnie Ruth Hightower, age 60, of the Lake Logan Community, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Harris Regional Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Willa Nell Melton Stiles of Waynesville and the late Ernest Stiles. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Donna Faye Freeman. Johnnie Ruth was a special lady who cared for others before herself and cherished her relationships with her family and friends. She was a dedicated member of Balsam Baptist Church and was a Christian lady who lived out her faith and loved her church family. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 43 years, C.D. Hightower; a sister, Mary Inman and her husband, Ricky, of Canton; one brother, William Stiles, of Waynesville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Balsam Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Swanger and Reverend T. M. Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Balsam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to Gideon International, P.O.
