Clyde, Johnnie Lawson Milner, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 surrounded by his family at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mozelle McElroy Milner. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Crisp and Kate Farley; four brothers, Eugene "Bully," Ray, J. H. and Gerald Milner. Johnnie was a kind, gracious and giving man of God. His family will remember him for his unconditional love. Johnnie's friends will remember him for always being willing to lend a hand. At Ninevah where he was a church member, he and Gerb cooked many a meal. He was also a faithful usher and greeter. Above all, Johnnie was a good and faithful servant. Johnny served his country in the United States Army and later retired from Champion paper in 1981 with 31 years of service. Johnnie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine "Gerb" Milner; two sons, Barry Milner, and his wife, June, of Clyde; and Randy Milner and his wife, Diana, of Lake Junaluska; one sister, Arlene Carpenter, and her husband, Frank, of Maggie Valley; two brothers, Dennis Milner, and his wife, Betty Sue, and DeWayne Milner and his wife, Mary Lou, both of Canton; five grandchildren, Kristin, Amber, Drake, Joseph and Megan; two great-grandchildren, Hugo and Ian; a special family friend, Karen Roof. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Ninevah Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Leslie officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
