Johnnie Russell

Clyde, Johnnie H. Russell, age 81, of Weaver Russell Road, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Charles Weaver and Beulah Messer Russell. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Archie Rathbone, Vager Russell, Katherine Spicer, Safford Russell and Katie Rathbone; a granddaughter, Christy Lynn Beasley; and one great-granddaughter, Raelynn Boone. Johnnie was a former employee of Dayco and was an avid fisherman and hunter Johnnie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edith Earley Russell; two daughters, Sandy Beasley (Tommy) and Donna Greene (Lowell) and sons, Doug Payne (Joyce) and Mike Payne (Charlene), all of Clyde; one sister, Beatrice Tidwell of Memphis, Tennessee; two brothers, Medford Russell of Clyde and Jimmy Russell of Central, South Carolina; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28 at Panther Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church.
