Johnnie Franklin Williams, age 88, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was a native of Buncombe County but had lived most of his life in Haywood County and was a son of the late Thomas Frank and Jessie Jackson Williams. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Hart and Aileen Johnson; two brothers, Wayne Williams and Infant Williams and a special son-in-law, Charles L. Trull. Johnnie retired, in 1980, from Champion International with 38 years of service and was a member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church. He always looked forward to mowing his lawn with "Little Red", his trusty lawnmower. Johnnie enjoyed gardening, lake fishing, and talking on his CB radio with his handle being "Morning Star". He is survived by his wife, of 69 years, Geraldine Clontz Williams; one daughter, Sue Trull; two sons, Troy Lee Williams and his wife, Montene, and James David Williams and his wife, Tommie, all of Canton; two half-brothers, Tommy Franklin Williams of Las Vegas, NV and James Archie Williams and his wife, Brenda, of Marion; one half-sister, Linda Morgan and her husband, Jerry, of Marion; one sister, Thelma Owen of Marion; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Lowder and Reverend Doug Love officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Roger Williams, Cody Jones, Danny Stroupe, Jack Green, Brook Smith and Ricky Rhinehart. At other times, the family will be at his residence, 146 Abbott Road in Canton.
