Johnny Hewett

November 23, 1944 — April 9, 2006

Waynesville-Johnny "NTI" Franklin Hewett, age 61, of 124 Walnut Ford Road, died on Sunday, April 9, 2006. A native of Tallahassee, FL, he had lived in Haywood County for the past 22 years. He was the son of the late Jewell F. and Thelma Addison Hewett. He served in the US Army for six years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Anteon Corporation as a field technician for the last four years prior to working for Nortel Networks for 25 years. He was a member of Burnette Siding Missionary Baptist Church. Johnny helped all people and had a very giving spirit. He is survived by his wife of eleven years, Louise Patton Hewett; a daughter, Katherine N. Hamrick and husband, Rusty, of LaMont, FL; a stepdaughter, Misty Riddle, of Canton; two stepsons, Shane Riddle of Waynesville and Clint Riddle of the Bethel Community; one sister, Barbara Strickland, of Attapulgus, GA; five grandchildren, Riley Hamrick, Tyler Bishop, and Cody, Anthony, and Letha Riddle; several aunt and uncles; and a special cousin, Nobie Willis and her husband, Alvin and their two daughters, Karen and Nadine. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2006 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend James Stinnett and Reverend Mark Golden officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be his stepson, Clint Riddle, and employees of Anteon Corporation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burnette Siding Missionary Baptist Church, 7321 Lake Logan Road, Canton, NC 28716.
