Candler, Johnny Nichols Hyatt, age 56, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital. Johnny was a native of Bryson City and grew up in Waynesville. He moved to Fairplay, SC where he lived until coming to Candler in 2007. He was the son of Laura Phillips Hyatt of Waynesville and the late Jim Hyatt who passed away in 2008. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Peggy Ann. Johnny graduated from Tuscola High School and was employed by Carolina Cable Contractors for many years. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Delania Williams Hyatt of Candler; his dedicated loving companion and pet, Mollee, mother-in-law, Mary Lee Williams of Asheville, sister-in-law, Venise Williams of Asheville; sister, Kathi Woodle and her husband Ron of Clyde; two brothers, Danny Hyatt and his wife Pat and Ricky Hyatt and his wife Debbie, all of Waynesville and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Green Hill Cemetery with Reverend Lonnie Ray officiating. A time of celebration and fellowship for Johnny was held following the graveside services at Abundant Life Church, 601 Westwood Circle, Waynesville (off Exit 100 – Hazelwood Exit). Pallbearers were Danny, Ricky, Jamon and Russell Hyatt, Skeet Robertson and Jim McCall. Because of Johnny's love of antique automobiles, the family requested anyone owning an antique auto and planned to attend services, to drive their car in memory of Johnny. Memorials may be made to Cancer Care, Dr. Michael Messino's Office, c/o Johnny Hyatt, 13 Trotter Place, Asheville, NC 28806. Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
