Waynesville, Joseph Calvin "J.C." Crayne, age 86, of Playground Street, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Albert and Paralee Evans Crayne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Reagan Crayne, who died in 2003; a son, Joseph C. "Joey" Crayne, Jr.; and a son-in-law, Kenneth S. Inman. J.C. was a US Army veteran who served during World War II and later retired from Wellco with 45-years service. He was a member and former deacon of Allens Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and reading. J.C. is survived by two daughters, Sharon C. Inman and Kay C. Queen, both of Charleston, South Carolina; one brother, Albert Crayne, Jr. of Tacoma, Washington; four grandchildren, Kenneth S. Inman, Jr., Jon D. Inman and wife, Vandy, Jennifer L. Queen, and James W. Queen, Jr. and wife, Frances; and six great-grandchildren, Emma Helen, Evie and Jon "Kipper" Inman, and also Joseph Morgan, James Alan, and Grace Kathryn Queen. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2014 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Deitz officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Early, Tim Buchanan, Kenneth Inman, Jr., Jon Inman, James W. Queen, Jeff Horton, Jeffrey Horton and Blake Horton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
